FAQ
Garage Door Questions Blaine Homeowners Actually Ask
Straight answers for Blaine homeowners asking what we fix, what we skip, and who shows up. Serving Blaine and nearby cities within about 14 miles.
Do you work on doors in my specific suburb, not just Blaine itself?
Yes, within reason. We cover Blaine plus nearby cities including Circle Pines, Spring Lake Park, Mounds View, Lino Lakes, Fridley, and others out to about 14 miles, like Ramsey, Oak Grove, and Mahtomedi. If you're not sure whether your address is in range, call (763) 280-3851 and ask before you book anything.
My house is older - will you even have parts for my door?
Depends on the age. Housing in this area mostly dates from 1957 to 2003, with a lot built in the 1980s and 90s, and parts for that era are usually still available. If your door and hardware predate that, some original parts may be discontinued, and replacement can end up the more practical call.
Why did my spring snap in the middle of winter?
This area sits in a cold-severe climate band, and steel torsion springs lose flexibility as temperatures drop, which is why January and February are when a lot of springs finally give out. It's not a defect - it's cold metal under tension finally reaching its limit.
Do you install commercial garage doors?
No. We work on residential garage doors, openers, and hardware. Commercial roll-up doors and warehouse dock equipment use different load ratings and mounting systems, and that's not work we take on.
Can you give me a price over the phone?
Not honestly, no. Spring, cable, opener, and track failures all have different fixes and different parts costs, and we won't quote blind before someone's looked at the actual door. Call (763) 280-3851 and we'll get a truck out to look first.
What We Do Not Take On
We work on residential garage doors, openers, springs, tracks, cables, and panels. That's the job. A few things fall outside it. We don't do new home construction install packages tied to a builder's framing schedule, and we don't touch commercial roll-up doors or warehouse dock equipment - different hardware, different load ratings, different tools.
Most of the housing around here went up between 1957 and 2003, with a lot of it clustered in the 1980s and 90s across the 46 named areas that make up this part of the metro. That matters because a door that's original to a 1983 build often has torsion hardware or track dimensions that newer kits don't match. If your door is old enough that parts are genuinely discontinued, we'll tell you straight that replacement is the cheaper path over the long run rather than chasing a spring or hinge nobody makes anymore.
We also don't guess at a diagnosis over the phone and quote blind. Springs, cables, and opener boards all fail for different reasons, and the fix changes depending on which one it actually is. If you want a number before anyone looks at the door, we can't give you one that means anything.

Who Does the Work
Someone from the shop drives out, looks at the door in your garage, and does the repair or tells you why it isn't worth doing. That's the whole setup - no call center routing the job to a sub-contractor three towns over.
Winters here sit in the cold-severe band, and that shows up in the calls we get: torsion springs that snap in January cold-shrink, openers that start skipping in a deep freeze, steel tracks that pull out of alignment when a slab heaves. The work doesn't change company to company, but knowing what a Minnesota winter does to a door that's been sitting since the Carter or Reagan years helps us get to the actual problem faster instead of replacing parts that were never broken.
We cover Blaine and run out to the nearby cities too - Circle Pines, Spring Lake Park, Mounds View, Lino Lakes, Fridley, North Oaks, Arden Hills, New Brighton, Centerville, Columbus, Andover, Columbia Heights, Champlin, Brooklyn Center, Anoka, St. Anthony, Osseo, Vadnais Heights, Roseville, Little Canada, Robbinsdale, Crystal, East Bethel, Dellwood, Falcon Heights, New Hope, Dayton, Ramsey, Oak Grove, and Mahtomedi. If you're outside that range, call and ask - we'd rather tell you no up front than waste your afternoon.

The Short Version
Call us at (763) 280-3851 or find us at 398 Northtown Dr, Blaine, MN 55434. We fix garage doors, springs, openers, tracks, cables, and panels on houses in Blaine and the towns around it, out to roughly 14 miles. We don't install commercial doors, we don't do new-build packages, and we won't quote a repair without seeing the door.
A fair number of homes in this service area are owner-occupied - 128,969 of roughly 258,628 households - and a lot of them are old enough that the original door hardware is well past its expected life. If your door is from that earlier building era and keeps needing small fixes, replacement usually ends up cheaper than another round of patch repairs. We'll say so if that's the honest answer, even if it means a smaller ticket for us that day.
That's really it. No invented history, no made-up warranty terms, no staff roster. Just what the door needs and whether it's worth fixing.
